The Howard Hughes Corporation is venturing into the casino industry with a brand-new establishment on the Las Vegas Strip.
The corporation, primarily known for its real estate ventures, is making its debut in the gambling world. They possess a substantial portfolio of retail spaces, office buildings, and residential properties across the United States.
To facilitate this expansion, they have established a subsidiary named Harbor Entertainment. This newly formed entity will oversee their entertainment endeavors in both New York and Las Vegas. They control a significant portion of the space above the Fashion Show shopping center, which will be the site of the upcoming casino.
Their intention is to transform Harbor Entertainment into an independent entity, allowing public investment by the end of the following year. This move, they claim, will enable the subsidiary to operate autonomously, solely concentrating on entertainment ventures.
A former executive from MGM will assume the leadership role at the newly formed company.
To support this initiative, they have appointed Anton Nikodems as the CEO of Harbor Entertainment.
Nikodems boasts a long and distinguished career at MGM, where he held various prominent positions. He served as the president and head of content for both CityCenter and the Cosmopolitan.
Anton Nikodems served as the Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations at the Bellagio for a period of five and a half years before assuming the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Nikodems held a similar position at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
