The Las Vegas Sands Corporation has declared the selection of Travis Lunn as the new head and chief operating officer of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. Lunn will be taking over for Melanie Johnson.
Lunn is a veteran casino leader with more than two decades of experience in the gambling and hospitality sectors. He previously served as president and chief operating officer of MGM Resorts’ Southern Group, supervising the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi and the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi.
MGM reported that Lunn’s two Mississippi casinos produced record gambling income in the third quarter of 2021, despite the ongoing implementation of COVID-19 health and safety measures. MGM’s total revenue reached $2.71 billion that quarter.
Johnson, the former COO of the Borgata, will be returning to the operator’s MGM National Harbor. She served as president and COO of the Maryland property before joining the Borgata in 2020.
Lunn remarked, “I am excited to join this skilled team. The Borgata is a top-tier resort destination, and its brand is recognized across the nation for its lavish accommodations, dining program, and entertainment offerings. I am eager to get involved and connect with all of the staff, visitors, and members of the local community.”
MGM Resorts revealed earlier this week that they will be introducing their fresh customer loyalty program on February 1st. This new initiative supersedes the previous M Life Rewards program, which solely permitted patrons to accumulate points through wagering. The revamped MGM Rewards program will now enable customers to earn points by engaging in games, lodging at hotels, or enjoying meals at their establishments.
