The decision to essentially put the product on hold was not straightforward, as it provided iGB readers with valuable information about the diverse esports competitions during the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) mandated sports closure. Bayes CEO Martin Dachselt clarifies why he chose to abandon the project he calls “my creation.”

Reflecting on the launch of the esports directory, it was portrayed as a method to simplify the event calendar, which is often “chaotic.”

Does this assistance in defining the extent of the services offered?

Indeed, it certainly does. Therefore, although it’s concluding now, the esports directory won’t vanish. We’ll be applying the present technology to other creations. However, for the esports directory, we need to experiment with different methods.

So, why did you choose to place it in a low-maintenance state?

I believe it’s essentially the key to startup achievement. Even for me, making this decision was quite challenging, as the esports directory was my brainchild and part of my vision. But occasionally when you’re leading an organization, you need to make choices, and not allow emotional attachments to interfere.

Within our ecosystem, it’s been demonstrated that odds platforms and widget offerings are presently vital to the company’s triumph on our BEDEX platform.

Conversely, our organization possesses numerous captivating projects where individuals can leverage their abilities.

This was not entirely unforeseen by the group. In our weekly practical gatherings, which are compulsory for our staff, it was obvious that we weren’t achieving our goals.

Following the release of this week’s data tool, will the emphasis change to extracting value from the data that Bayesian has access to?

We’ve always taken a multi-faceted approach. In the marketplace, BEDEX, we’re distributing raw data to anyone interested, while continuing to build our own offerings and services on top of that data. If we spot an intriguing area, we might offer it ourselves. So I wouldn’t characterize this as a change. Through our collaboration with esports.com, we saw a need to distribute more refined tools that make esports look more like conventional sports.

Have there been any recent enhancements or modifications to BEDEX? How is the product performing?

We’re very pleased with the improvements in the market. Presently, we have over 40 customers accessing real-time and historical data from BEDEX, and we’ve been working to provide more data and extra features. One illustration is our parser Carp, which was developed in close cooperation with ESL. It enables real-time extraction of data from games like CS:GO and Dota 2, providing an unprecedented amount and quality of data points.

Lastly, what are your thoughts on the growth of esports during the quarantine period?

Theres been a lot of chatter from operators and providers about the thriving esports scene, but do you believe its path is merely being sped up by the halt in conventional sports, or is there a new audience emerging that’s larger than anticipated?

In June, our income reached a record high. However, concerning the entire confinement period, I believe the reason individuals flocked to esports was because they had more time at home and they were seeking new entertainment.

Therefore, when conventional sports return, we shouldn’t lose too many of the supporters we’ve attracted. Individuals will have less time to dedicate to playing and viewing esports, but once conventional sports resume, interest in esports will revert to its regular growth rate.
