ACMA Cracks Down on Illegal Offshore Gambling and Affiliate Marketing Websites

The Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) is taking action against unlawful offshore gaming and partner marketing platforms. They’ve requested internet providers (ISPs) to restrict connections to these sites, bolstering their continuous attempts to safeguard Australian users from illicit online betting.

The ACMA’s inquiry disclosed that numerous sites were functioning in violation of the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act. Platforms such as Casino Moons, Winnerama, Extra Vegas, and Win Paradise were publicly identified on the ACMA’s website as instances of services that ISPs should block.

This represents the most recent step in a protracted battle against illegal wagering. Since 2017, the ACMA has successfully forced over 170 illicit services out of the Australian market. Furthermore, since 2019, they’ve had 568 unlawful gaming and affiliate marketing websites blocked.

The ACMA is dedicated to safeguarding consumers. They urge everyone to be cognizant of the dangers linked with illegitimate gaming services and to utilize licensed platforms. A directory of these authorized platforms is available on the ACMA website.

This announcement follows closely on a formal caution given earlier this month to Proxous Advanced Solutions, a provider that the ACMA discovered was enabling access to illegal gambling.

The Australian media regulator, known as the ACMA, has initiated measures against Proxous, a software developer for internet casinos. The ACMA claims that Proxous was aware that it was providing its “RealTime Gaming” software to 13 online casinos that were operating illegally in Australia.

This instance marks the first occasion where the ACMA has issued an official caution to a business for “furnishing software utilized in association with prohibited gambling activities.”
