Betsson is making a significant investment in Brazil! They are now the primary backer of the Pernambuco state championship, a major event in Brazilian soccer. This move is part of their strategy to become a well-known brand in Latin America. Imagine sponsoring the FA Cup to increase brand visibility.

They’ve even rebranded the tournament as the “Betsson Pernambuco Championship” for the 2022 season, commencing on January 22nd. Expect numerous Betsson advertisements and special offers during the competition.

The Pernambuco championship is no small matter either. The previous year’s final shattered audience records, even exceeding those of the more renowned Paulista and Carioca championships (comparable to the Premier League in Brazil).

This partnership is mutually beneficial. Betsson gains brand exposure, while the Pernambuco Football Federation (FPF) receives much-needed financial support to enhance the sport within the region, including compensating officials and even implementing VAR (video assistant referee) for the final rounds.

Betsson has been active in Brazil since 2019, and their presence seems permanent. They already support Íbis Sport Club, a founding member of the FPF, who have returned to the top division of the Pernambuco league for the first time in over twenty years. The Northeast is definitely heating up!

André Gelpi, a leading executive at Betsson Brazil, emphasized the importance of the Pernambuco Championship, noting, “It stands as one of the largest and most storied regional competitions in Brazil, boasting millions of ardent supporters.” He added, “Our prior collaboration with Sport Club do Recife proved fruitful, and we are confident that this tournament presents a superb chance to further elevate our brand visibility and engage with these enthusiasts on a more profound basis.”
