The Australian football governing body, APL, has strengthened its alliance with IMG, solidifying their joint effort on global media distribution, information, and digital broadcasting. Although the precise timeframe of the extension is undisclosed, it is projected to encompass multiple years. This action is being lauded by the APL as a tactical maneuver to further elevate the worldwide recognition and financial triumphs of both the premier men’s tournament, the Isuzu UTE A-League, and its female equivalent, the Liberty A-League.
Through this accord, IMG will maintain its management and dissemination of media entitlements for the APL outside Australia and New Zealand. Concurrently, IMG Arena will assume a pivotal function in gathering official statistics from all games, making it accessible to over 460 authorized sports wagering entities globally.
“This broadened and intensified partnership highlights the vast expansion possibilities of Australian and New Zealand football,” commented APL Chief Executive Danny Townsend. “We are enthusiastic to persist on our path with IMG, capitalizing on their invaluable proficiency and expansive international reach.”
Townsend underscored the leagues’ capacity as a talent incubator for prospective national team stars, the Matildas (women’s) and Socceroos (men’s), stating, “The A-Leagues are where national squad icons are forged, where global athletes excel, and where the upcoming cohort of Matildas and Socceroos are cultivated. With the current growth of both leagues, supporters can anticipate even more exhilarating contests, more goals, and more compelling narratives.”
Dale Levin, a high-ranking official at IMG Media, conveyed contentment with their enduring collaboration with the A-League, emphasizing their role in the league’s remarkable expansion over the preceding six years.
Separately, FanDuel recently integrated IMG Arena’s Golf Event Centre into its sports wagering platform. This alliance enables FanDuel users to place wagers on in-play markets during PGA Tour tournaments, utilizing IMG Arena’s advanced technological capabilities.
